Budget is a private, self-hosted budgeting tool used only by the members of one household to track their own money. It is not a public service and does not accept new users.
What data it handles
With your permission, it reads account details and transactions from your own bank accounts (Monzo directly, and Santander through Lunch Flow, an Open Banking data service). It also stores the budgets, categories and notes you enter, and a login for each household member.
How it's used
The data is used only to show you your own spending against your budget. It is never sold, shared, used for advertising or passed to anyone else. The app has no analytics or tracking.
Optional AI advice
If the household turns on the Claude advisor, a summary of spending (category totals, regular payees and debts, without account numbers or references) is sent to Anthropic's Claude API to generate money-saving suggestions. It is only sent when someone asks for advice.
Where it's stored
Everything is stored in a database on a server controlled by the household. Bank access uses the providers' own consent screens, and no bank login details are stored by the app.
Your choices
You can disconnect a bank at any time from the Connections page, or withdraw consent in your banking app. Disconnecting stops new data being read; the stored data can be deleted on request by the server owner.
